Visit Tamar Valley have won the contract to deliver the Come Visit Stay Awhile project, which is one of the ten projects that make up the Tamara Landscape Partnership Scheme. The aim of this project is to stimulate a sustainable increase in visitor numbers and opportunities for local businesses in the Tamar Valley. An injection of funds until 2025 will be dedicated to:

  • Further developing a fully resourced destination website
  • Proactively marketing the Tamar Valley as a place to visit
  • Promoting hospitality and tourism businesses in the area
  • Creating opportunities for local people to become involved in the industry
  • Upskilling local business through workshops and training
  • Creating a dedicated B2B support hub for local business owners
  • And generating a tangible positive impact on the local economy as a whole.

Visit Tamar Valley (VTV) has existed for some years as an organisation that provides business support and networking to the tourism and hospitality sector in the Tamar Valley. Formerly known as We Love The Tamar Valley, it rebranded in 2020 as a Destination Marketing Organisation with a defined objective to promote the region as a not to be missed destination to the visitor market. A new destination website launched in early 2021.

Alongside general work to raise the visibility of the Tamar Valley as a place to visit, VTV are currently working on an initiative to highlight the importance of Sustainable Tourism. This work will include practical help and resources for businesses that wish to develop, or further enhance green initiatives. Likewise, website development and enhanced search capability will enable visitors to proactively seek out green tourism sites in the Tamar Valley. The initiative will be supported by digital marketing campaigns and PR, and will ultimately feed into the development of a Green Charter for tourism businesses in the Tamar Valley and nearby areas.
